July 2008

  • Received from Afghanistan 31st July 2008

Thank you for the parcel of biscuits, sweets, socks and toiletries I have just been lucky enough to receive.

It is enormously appreciated - a little touch of normality! We are all deeply touched by the kindness of the people back home who remember us. Thank you once again it means an awful lot.

    You are all very kind,
    Best Wishes,
    J D

  • Received from Afghanistan 30th July 2008

Thank you very much for your very kind parcel.

It is a great comfort to know that the British public are thinking of us out here and your very kind gifts go a great long way to making our lives a little more comfortable.

    Kind Regards,
    Lieutenant J Royal Navy

  • Received from Iraq 28th July 2008

I am a female soldier currently serving in Basra, Iraq and I was fortunate enough to receive one of the Thank The Forces boxes. Let me say how very much appreciated these boxes are by all the people currently on deployment. It means a great deal to receive a parcel from people like yourselves and to know we are in the thoughts of people back home in the UK.

To receive a parcel that has been especially put together for a female soldier is extra special and does wonders for morale.

    Once again thank you,
    WO2 B Army

  • Received 1st July 2008 from Afghanistan

Thank you very much for your parcel it is greatly appreciated.

My name is (name supplied) and I've been in the army for 5 years. This is my first time in Afghanistan and it is average 50 degrees during the day. I miss the British weather.

I'm from (country supplied), but I'm married to a man from the UK. He is in the British Army too and on his way to Canada for exercise. My family all live in another country and it's not possible for them to mail me anything, so I even get more excited if we get a gift from you than the British girls.

We appreciate your support very much. We don't have it as hard as the guys in the front line, but it is so nice to know that people like you support us. We don't want to be here. We're just doing what we're told.

Take care and thank you again for making us feel we are making a difference.
