August 2008

  • Received from Iraq 30th August 2008

Please accept my sincere thanks for the receipt of the box of extremely useful items that were received this morning, we are making the most of the difficult conditions in which we operate.

My soldiers and I thoroughly appreciate the work of "Thank The forces" and are eternally grateful to people like you who keep our morale high. At times we are tested to our limits.

Please convey this message to your colleagues

    Once again very many thanks,
    Cpl S M

Thank you so much for the parcel from your fantastic organisation. The contents were incredibly welcome; I have never seen shortbread disappear so fast!

Parcels are most welcome and the thought itself is lovely. I am truly touched and cannot thank you enough for your kindness and selfless thinking of others.

Once again thank you all so much for your kind gesture, it is rewarding knowing the job we are proud to do is recognised by those we serve.

I am truly humbled by the generosity of the people back home. To be so far from home and know that many people genuinely care about the welfare of the troops is great for morale. I am so proud to serve with the British Army and there isn't any other Army to compare with our boys and girls who never let us down. Please pass on my sincere thanks to all who help you do such a great job for the Forces.

    Proud To Serve,

  • Received 1st August from Afghanistan

I recently received the generous parcel that you sent via Thank the Forces. Thank you for, not only the very well received gifts but also for the kindness and consideration that you have shown. When the parcels from Thank the Forces arrived there were more smiles and happy faces than have ever seen since my arrival here 3 months ago. I am certain that I was also wearing a huge smile!!

The support that you and others like you are showing for 'us out here' really does make a difference. Morale is one of the few things that can't be bought, but you have certainly provided a huge amount.

Take care and please continue to support us and once more, Thank you.

    All the best,
    WO2 - S

What can I say other than a BIG "Thank You".

We as a group have just received a batch of parcels dropped in by helicopter. I've never seen grown men and women act like this ever before, even at Christmas.

We are all busy trading and swopping bits and bobs from our boxes and I can assure you that every item will be put to good use. I've done particularly well and will be tucking in the next time I'm a little bit down. The treats are so good for morale!

The heat is insufferable reaching 45 degrees and so we try to hide away and sit it out when we can in the day. The men are tired, but determined to stay professional until they return home to safety.

Everywhere seems to harbour some kind of nastiness, but the guys tend to smile and remain cheerful in the face of adversity. It's your generosity that makes keeping them going and makes life a little easier.

    Many Grateful Thanks,
    Capt - R
