Received 1st August 2008 from Afghanistan

What can I say other than a BIG "Thank You".

We as a group have just received a batch of parcels dropped in by helicopter. I've never seen grown men and women act like this ever before, even at Christmas.

We are all busy trading and swopping bits and bobs from our boxes and I can assure you that every item will be put to good use. I've done particularly well and will be tucking in the next time I'm a little bit down. The treats are so good for morale!

The heat is insufferable reaching 45 degrees and so we try to hide away and sit it out when we can in the day. The men are tired, but determined to stay professional until they return home to safety.

Everywhere seems to harbour some kind of nastiness, but the guys tend to smile and remain cheerful in the face of adversity. It's your generosity that makes keeping them going and makes life a little easier.

Many Grateful Thanks,
Capt - R
