  • 10 yr old Keaton Volunteers For Thank The Forces Charity

Proud to Collect for Thank The Forces Charity

Keaton is 10yrs old. He contacted Sue at Thank the Forces after hearing his mum Kim talking about the gift service to British soldiers. Keaton has never met a soldier and has no military connections, but wants to join the Army when he leaves school.

Keaton offered to help Thank the Forces to collect gifts for the soldiers. He approached his dentist and secured 50 tubes of toothpaste! He then approached his headmaster and has secured an agreement for the entire school to collect gifts. Not satisfied with this, Keaton then approached his Karate club, who are also planning to help.

Keaton was preparing for his 10th Birthday party when Sue went over to meet him. He carefully wrapped and packed lots of gift boxes for the soldiers and included some ‘party bags’ from his Birthday treats for the soldiers.

Keaton has received a number of letters from British Service personnel in Afghanistan and Iraq. He has had contact from a General, a Lieutenant Colonel and a number of soldiers who all praise him for his hard work and quite rightly agree, he will make a fine Military Officer that our country will be very proud of.

Keaton hasn’t finished collecting. He received a letter from an RAF serviceman who used to attend the Bexhill Air Cadets. Keaton has already decided to approach the Air Cadets and show them the letter as they will be interested to hear how one of their Cadets has progressed. Keaton is also asking the Cadets to support Thank the Forces.

What a fantastic boy! Thank you Keaton for all your hard work, we are all very proud of you

  • A Visit to Westergate House, Fontwell

    A Visit to Westergate House

On 7th March 2008 Sue was invited to Westergate House Care Home, Denmans Lane, Fontwell, West Sussex.

Sue was warmly greeted by staff member Vanessa Cannon who had arranged a lovely surprise in the main living room.

Staff had worked wonders decorating a room with Union Jack bunting and Flags. The very generous and kind residents waved Union Jack flags ensuring the visit was a really special event. Everyone at the home donated so many kind gifts that have now been sent to our brave service personnel in Afghanistan and Iraq. Westergate House has offered Thank the Forces a stall at the Westergate House Summer Fete on the 9th August 2008, so put the date in your diary and come along and meet us. A great big thank you must go to all the lovely residents and staff of Westergate House.

Westergate House is now a permanent ‘drop off’ point for all who wish to donate gifts in the Chichester, West Sussex area.
