Soldiers Letter

Received November 2009

It was one hot afternoon on the yard when the parcels arrived.  Being the first time receiving such a parcel, we didn’t know where it came from.  We got one of the sappers to open them and wow…. there were our fantasy snacks and travel packs.
Everyone pounced on it like wounded lions, or more like tramps on chips.  God!!! It was nice and tasty.  Whilst enjoying it, I said to myself “So there are people out there appreciating what we are doing”.  The feeing did pump loads of morale into our system.  It gave us strength our hard training never did.
We thank you very much for being there for us.
The Engineer Log Sqn.

On behalf of all the soldier and dogs at 101 TMWDSU I would like to write this letter to say a very big thank you for all your support and especially for the parcels you have continued to send to us over the summer months during out tour here in Afghanistan.  We have been overwhelmed by the support the public and especially people like yourself have shown for us and it really makes us feel proud for the job we are doing here.  The parcels you have sent to us have really helped by reminding us of home and our loved ones and the dogs have especially enjoyed the treats that were sent out.

you may be glad to know that we are now approaching the end of our tour after completing 6 months here in Afghanistan and so are really looking forward to getting back to Aldershot with our friends and families.  Because of this we would, like to pass on your information to the next unit that will be taking over from us so that they can continue to write back to you and thank you for your support and if you like you can continue to send parcels to them as they begin their 6 months tour here.
