Jevington Womens Institute Supporting Thank The Forces Charity

Jevington Womens Institute Supporting Thank The Forces Charity

Jevington and Filching Womens Institute kindly collected a huge amount of Easter gifts to be sent to British Soldiers. A competition winning shoe box was also donated.

The competition box was covered in a map of the local area wth local badges and the Jevington and Filching WI club history. This beautiful box was lined with information and pictures of all the local club members.

Sue is pictured with just a few of the local Womens Institute Club members.

Thank you to all the lovely ladies of the W.I.

Scalextrics Appeal, An unusual request from a British Army Sgt in Afghanistan.

Scalextrics Appeal, An unusual request from a British Army Sgt in Afghanistan.

His Regt were given a small Scalextrics race car set,  in the autumn of 2007 and it has been a great hit with all the soldiers.
When soldiers return to camp battle weary from weeks in the desert, there is not a lot for them to do in their rest time, other than rest!
They usually have a few days to relax and rest before being due out in the desert again and with only 30 mins a week to phone home, unreliable internet connections limited to 20 mins a week, they have really enjoyed attending the rest and recuperation area to have a few minutes of fun on the Scalextrics track!
The Sgt is appealing for any second hand Scalextric track, cars or parts. If you have any old Scalextric track or parts that you would like us to send out for you.

Thank you to all who generously gave so many scalextrics sets. Thank The Forces Charity sent 5 brand new sets to Afghanistan and some spare track and cars. Well done everyone!!
 This appeal is now closed.
